Taking the time for time

It’s August 30th - end of summer for some, smack in the middle of Burning Man for others. In other words, the perfect time to talk about time - and more importantly, the need to actually take the time.
Time has always been my favorite philosophical concept, especially since I’ve been navigating worlds where performance is king, and the pressure to do more, faster, is always looming.
But today, I’m all about going against the current so I can ride the waves even harder.
Why?
Because I believe that true performance doesn’t come from time itself, but from repetition and perseverance - and for that, you’ve got to take the time for time. The time to repeat. The patience that time demands.
The curse of our age is seeing the world as a series of successes - one TikTok, two TikToks, three TikToks - “Wait, am I actually terrible at this ?” - and boom, TikTok wins.
But the reality? Life’s more of a collection of failures, each one giving rise to a success, only to be followed by another failure. It’s not a string of wins; it’s a dance with setbacks.
The only way to tip the scales in favor of success over failure is to keep going. Always keep moving forward - but at your own pace, taking your time.
No point in climbing Everest if you can’t walk the week after. It’s better to walk every day, and one day, stumble upon Everest and think - why not ?
So, take your time, move forward - no matter how small the step - because stopping is the surest way to get stuck.
So go ahead, dance at Burning Man - grab a drink - do a few laps at your Soho House - and you’ll hit your goals faster than you think.
Charge ahead, but at your own speed! It’s your rhythm - no one else’s. You set it, you own it!
